All she wanted to do was look.

Morgana had heard the rumours of the new sword, and couldn't help but want to see it. As rare as her own sword is, for there to be two, two of appropriate size for her to handle properly, is unheard of. The problem is, the new sword isn't for her; it's for Arthur.

Morgana doesn't begrudge not being the recipient of the sword. The one she has was a gift from her father, so nothing could possibly improve on that. That doesn't mean she isn't curious. That doesn't mean she can't appreciate the work of the person who made it. That doesn't mean her appreciation for fine weaponry isn't always going to be there. To avoid Arthur getting even so much as a breath about it, it had been made outside the castle: a man named Tom forged it.

Morgana also wanted to see it without Arthur. He would crow, and puff about, as he had been ever since he officially started his training. Other noble children start at the age of 8, but Morgana always suspected Uther was too protective, not that he would admit it. So, Arthur was starting now, assigned as a page, and using the practice swords. As is, even Morgana has to admit the knights talk about Arthur, he must be very good already. Morgana's new lessons are different. It's about her being finished as a lady. She actually likes her lessons. The ladies of the court know how to wield power with a look, and a word, rather than a weapon. She just wishes she could do not only her own lessons, but also Arthur's.

So, here she is, sneaking into the armory after supper, looking for the sword in question. It isn't difficult to find. While it might look like a practice sword to the naked eye, there's a finishing, an intricacy to the crafting of this sword. Picking it up, she has to admit is as fine as the one her father gave to her.

It's true Arthur's been more of a prat than usual... not that anyone would say so. Except for the person currently handling his most treasured possession.

Arthur had other lessons as well, much to his annoyance, but they've finally ended for the day and now he's on the way to the armoury to see it!

The Prince of Camelot is practically skipping, though he'd deny it, but the spring in his step halts abruptly as he enters the chamber.

There's a moment's silence, then the most indignant shout you could imagine. "MY SWORD!"

Tantrum? Tantrum?! Of all the unfair unspoken accusations Morgana has ever levelled at him!

"Ever think to ask first?" Not that he would have let her, but that's neither here nor there. "I thought you were learning to be a lady."

Arthur's tone makes it clear what he thinks of that.

Oh that's a low blow...how's Arthur meant to respond to that? The one thing he can never use against Morgana is anything to do with her father.

He glares at her all the same.

"Well if it's nothing special why did you sneak in here to look at it?"

"I've been busy!" Arthur protests lamely. In truth it's more that he wanted to keep the sword to himself. He knows Morgana will want to try it out and secretly he's a little worried she might be better wielding it then he is. His grip isn't all it should be just yet...

"Well, you've seen it." He grumbles.

Then has to ask. " It's pretty good right?"

Arthur might flush, embarrassed at leaving her out...He hadn't meant to! Well not really, but there was so much to do and he wanted to spend as much time as possible with the knights.

"I thought you didn't like it when I talk to you." He says, rather lamely.

Arthur frowns at the 'stupid' remark, but though he'd never admit it out loud...she's probably right. He has been stupid, and petty, but he liked having the attention, especially from Father.

He clears his throat and mumbles. "I know. Um...I've learnt some new footwork...wanna see?"

Possibly...it'll be a long, long time however.

For now, though, a truce has been declared.

"Really good footwork! I'll show you." And getting into the proper stance, he launches into a flurry of movement. It's quite spectacular... at least until the end when he missteps and almost ends up flat on his face.

Arthur will appreciate it when he realises, but at the moment he's too busy blushing with embarrassment.

"I'm fine," he assures her as he gets to his feet.

He looks more than a little confused by her comment. "Dance?" He wrinkles his nose in distaste.

"With the ladies? That's it I'm never learning to dance." Typical boy response.

And yes that is very girly, real knights don't get looked over like this! It's unmanly!

Hopefully Morgana won't take it to personally if Arthur shies away rather like a spooked horse.

"Well…maybe." Arthur mumbles and not just to placate Morgana either, Godfather Gorlois had always given the best advice. If he said dancing was important...

"Father won't notice. So don't let anything slip." He gives her his most serious look, which endd up being a pout more than anything else.

"What? There is?" Arthur rushes to the nearest polished surface, which happens to be a helmet, to check.

He winces as he sees that indeed Morgana is right, he must have hit himself with his sword hilt when he stumbled.

What am I supposed to do?" He can't let Father see this! He doesn't want anyone to see it. It would be too embarrassing.

If Arthur realised he'd be very grateful, but at the moment he's trying to rearrange his hair so the bruise is not so obvious.

"I guess I could." He says hesitantly, he'd still look kind of dumb, but it wouldn't be so bad.

"You don't think he will be, do you? He hasn't eaten with us all week."

Arthur pauses in his hair rearranging and considers Morgana's suggestion.

"That's a good one! And it is...sort of..." The Knight's Code does demand honesty, but sometimes the rules can be bent a bit.

He pouts a little. "I don't see why Mercia just can't leave us alone, they've got a huge amount of land all ready!"
